Home sweet home!!

Got out of the hospital on Tuesday around noon. Now that they have me on a lot of anti-seizure drugs, they're confident that I'll be safe at home. Was a little concerned to leave for "safety" reasons but feels so great to be home!

Tasha told me that they called the "Code 66" for me, which means that my vitals were going in a bad direction. The next step is the "Code Blue" which means you're on "flatline". All I can say is that I'm a very happy man that I'm here writing this blog!!!

It's so unfortunate that it takes something like this to make us realize how lucky we are to be here in the first place. I used to get so wired up over the smallest stuff that really doesn't matter. Unfortunately our society does tend to promote this. Please take the time to think about what I've just said. We are very lucky to live the lives that we do! Bad stuff is part of the contract that we signed when we were born. Accept it because it also gives you the beautiful stuff that we receive.

I wish you all the happiest of holidays. As you read this, I am sending you massive hugs!!!

"Live and love each day", "take nothing for granted", "don't sweat the small stuff" - these are all lessons you and Tasha have reinforced for me and for that I am forever grateful.

I think of you and your family often and send oddles of good energy your way whenever I can.

Merry Christmas to you

I know you have tons of family and friends here for support, but if there is anything I can do for your family over the holidays (or anytime) ... make a meal, run an errand etc please do not hesitate to ask. You and Tasha need to just chill and relax - you've got enough on your plate.

Ryan... I know I speak for everyone, when I say I am so glad you are back home. I saw the Global TV interview tonight and was so impressed by both you and Tasha. I think your positive outlook and warmth will foster the same in many, many people. My thoughts are with you both every day.
Have a wonderful Christmas.

I have been reading your blog, Tash's blog and Tricia's blog for quite a while now and feel compelled to write something tonight.
Your family amazes me and I know for some reason you two were chosen to be our role models - I thank you both for that.
I hope you know that Jamie and I would love to help you guys in any way we can, in the meantime I am sending lots of positive energy your way.
Thanks for the massive hugs and know we are sending them back to you too!

Hi Ryan,

I was just watching the news and was very intrigued/touched by your story. As a result, I decided to stop by Global Calgary's website and find the link to your blog. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through, but wow, what a journey! Good on you for being so strong and positive about it all! I wish you and your family all the best, and you will definitely be in my thoughts. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Hi Ryan,
I saw your story on the news and I've been thinking of you each day. We worked together at Investors Group a few years back. I loved seeing your smile each day and of course bugging you about what actual Cowboy Boots should look like!

You and your wife are inspirations to all and I believe you can do this!

Warmest thoughts,

Welcome home Ryan,
What a tremendous relief it must be for you to be home. You have gone from desperately wanting to see Tasha one last time .... to "popping through the cloud" and savoring family life again. Yours is a moving and courageous account of all that you have been through recently.

We especially appreciate hearing the details of your seizures, learning their cause and knowing that you now have anti-seizure medications to keep you safe at home. We don't know where you get the courage to go ahead with the very treatments that are causing such terrifying side effects. It probably has everything to do with the love you have for Tasha, for Talyn and for life itself.

Even at our age, we need to be reminded of "how lucky we are to be here in the first place". For most of us, the "smallest stuff" can very quickly get blown up out of all proportion. I guess people never stop having to learn to accept the bad stuff along with the beautiful things in life.

Still, Ryan, it seems to us that you and Tasha have had way more of the "bad stuff" to deal with than many of us experience in a lifetime. That is a mean reality that we are finding quite hard to accept right now. However, as we have promised, we will entertain only positive thoughts on your behalf. We love the "pilot" image that you so often use, and we choose to see you flying boldly through this terrible storm.

Thank you for your virtual hugs AND for the "real" ones which were personally delivered to us by Tricia. What an inspirational messenger she is, too!

Take care throughout the holidays and enjoy all that is beautiful!

Sincere well-wishes,
Louise and David
