Ongoing challenges

It seems that just when you feel comfortable with things, something else comes along and hits you on the side of the head. I found out yesterday that my Dad has been diagnosed with dementia. What's up with that?!?!

I'm not writing this to complain. I'm simply wondering when life will give us a break. Just a couple of weeks would be nice. It's been almost 12 years now since the start of the journey of dealing with cancer and now something completely different. Whining is simply a complete waste of energy. Sitting back and reviewing and accepting is the hard part.

Accept, get the sword out, and go back to battle!!!

Hope all is well.

Dear Ryan,
There are times when whining is on the menu. Serving up a bit of it can help muster up the energy needed to deal with all kinds of disappointment and loss.

Your Dad's diagnosis of dementia signals the beginning of a long process of letting go. One positive thing about knowing what's happening is that there are some treatment options available that were not there even a few years ago. There is real hope now, even for persons with dementia.

People like you, Tasha, Tricia and now your Dad (battling in a different arena) make the world a better place for others by having to forge new paths. No one will object if you rage against the tide.

Sincerely,
Louise and David
